Yesterday I was playing a game and i herd my cat meowing and meowing, so i opened the door and i saw a mouse sqeeking in his mouth. So i grabed him, told him to let go and he did, so i went to grab toilet paper, put him inside, and when I came back my other cat took off with the poor little guy. So i finally got the mouse (Cheaks) and put him in a plastic jar with no lid and put toilet paper in there, also I put a little soda lid with water in there. Now heres the problem, he can only drag his right back leg and he wont eat or drink. I think he not eating because he might be in pain or hes to young. He has fur and he can open his eyes but usually he jest sleeps. When I first got him all he did was cry for his moma. Please help me i don't know what do do, i don't want to get rid of him and my parents want me to give him back to the cat but i can't do that. Any suggestions on getting him to eat or anything?

  1. Chalice is right, it wont survive and needs to be put out of its pain.  I know this sounds gross but if our cat gets a mouse we just let it eat it, its better than it suffering for hours while we find a vet that will euthanize it

  2. I'm afraid there is no saving this mouse. Any small animal that gets caught by a cat is in trouble - a cat's bite or scratch will deliver bacteria to a small animal and quickly kill it, even if injuries are not immediately obvious.

This mouse has a damaged back leg - even if it did survive (and it won't) it would not be able to survive in the wild in thi state, and as it's a wild animal it cannot be kept as a pet.

Take the mouse to a vet, they will humanely destroy it - i.e. gas it to sleep then inject it with kill juice. The mouse is suffering hugely from pain and stress and it will be dead soon - best thing you can do for it is have it's suffering painlessly ended.

Sorry to be upsetting, but I'm just saying it like it is - I could never count how many birds and mice I've seen caught by birds. Birds may rarely survive but a mouse never would.
