I have wild onions thick in my flower beds that are covered in brick chips. How do I get rid of them without having to remove the brick chip and dig up the bulbs. Round-up is a temporary problem solver. How do I get rid of them for good, they are multiplying. Thanks

  1. The problem is that the onion is a reserve of energy for the plant. When clipped, eaten, or otherwise killed at the top it simply uses the energy in the bulb to produce a new shoot. Roundup is a systemic herbicide that WILL kill the whole plant but it may need to be applied in a more concentrated dose. This does not mean to simply spray MORE of it on the plant. It means that the concentration of the active ingredient, glyphosate, needs to be higher in solution you spray. The best time of year to attack them would be in early spring. If they come back, repeat process immediately.

    Persistence will kill  the buggers.
