Wilfrid Cote trounces Harrison Orr to surge into Men’s Singles semi-final at Canadian Masters
Canada’s Wilfrid Cote was impressive in the Men’s Singles quarter-final fight when he showed no mercy to Harrison Orr of USA and won the contest with a remarkable margin at the 2012 Yonex Canadian Masters Badminton Championships on Tuesday, May 8, in Canada.
The un-seeded Wilfrid showed his elevated craft in the court when he punished his foreign opponent in a completely one-sided fashion and advanced into the semi-final of the championship.
Wilfrid was impressive in his composed play in the quarter-final contest and he showed his brilliance to thrash his Harrison in straight sets with a superb margin on the board.
On the other hand, the USA shuttler was helpless against the positive and flawless play of his Canadian opponent and bowed down easily in two sets in just 27 minutes.
First game was completely one-sided when Wilfrid showed his class and did not face any problem from Harrison in setting up an early lead.
In the meanwhile, Harrison played quivering badminton in the opening rallies and remained struggling to find his flow.
Until the mid-game break in the first game, Wilfrid was the first who established a huge gap on the score board.
After the break, Harrison did his best to stop the aggressive run of his local opponent but failed to put up strong resistance against the planned and positive play of Wilfrid.
The Canadian sailed smoothly in the concluding part of first set and bagged it easily with a terrific 21-8 score on the board.
In the second game, Harrison played competitive badminton as he matched the pace of rallies and also remained aggressive in the court.
However, he failed to dominate the pace and remained slightly behind his Canadian rival until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Wilfrid changed his tactics and injected power in his shots to break the rhythm of his opponent.
The Canadian was successful in his strategy and eventually managed to win the second set with a reasonable score of 21-15.
Wilfrid bagged this quarter-final fight in just 27 minutes with a sensational 21-8 and 21-15 margin on the score board.
