I think that they shoud keep it at just 16. there will be too many teams then. the AFL will go for a longer period though so i guess thats alrite. means i get to see Dale Thomas more.

im from tassie and until they have a tassie team i wont support 18 teams in the league

No way -

Gold Coast & Sydney - Rugby territory.

Tassie or Darwin or Canberra - not enough population to support a team, the research has been done.

If it aint broke, dont try to fix it! 16 teams is just fine, please Dimitrio dont ruin our great league!!!!

I think that as someone as someone said above, it will work for the first couple of seasons, then I think it will just die out.

The novelty of it will be great....either an extra Friday night game or do the same as the NRL and have a Monday night game and whats wrong with a Thursday night?

But then there will be the complications like membership numbers and all that kind of c**p. If there is a Western Sydney team, then it will only be the 'Roos moving up north as I dont think that Sydney is no where near ready for a 2nd team.

As for finals...you could stick with the top 8 or maybe have an 8 v 9 'playoff final' to make it more interesting.....

like I said, the novelty of it will drive it at first..just like with a brand new aircraft, a brand new TV show or a brand new superstar on the field....but it will wear off after a few seasons and we will go back down to 16....

....but having another team in Sydney, i think is a big mistake.  The two extra teams should be based on the Gold coast, and Tasmania.

I think it will work but the last Saturday in September will be HISTORY but when the 17th team comes in i dont think it will work untill the 18th team comes in coz 1 team will have an extra week off

Im an NRL fan, so i dont care too much about AFL all too much, but i dont see why 18 teams wouldnt work...but puting another team in sydney? lol fail.

The AFL don't have any intention of having 18 teams - they are just waiting for two Melbourne teams to die and then relocate them.

The Kangaroos are definitely one - the other would be either Melbourne of Hawthorn. My bet would be on the Dees.

all it will do is make more clubs go broke quicker. if the 16 clubs are in trouble now, (well up to 8 would be) then you watch what happens if two more come in.
