Will 240 volts cause a condenser fan to shut off on high temp? The fan is 208/230.?

  1. 240 should have no effect thats well within design specs of plus/minus 5%  however a frequency mis-match will indeed kick the condenser off line


  2. No, that's within range.

    Make sure your capacitor is OK.

    Check side to side movement in the motor shaft for possible bearing wear.

  3. I do not know where you are but a 208/230 volt is 4 wire, 3 phase  electric in the U.S. A 220/240 volt is 3 wire 1 phase. that you can split to get the 110/120 volt. I am glad you have not killed you self.  3 phase appliance will not work on a one phase system. Three phase electric is for commercial and industrial use only. Are you sure you have 208/ 230, and not 110/230. if you are not in the U.S, then I need to back out of this.
