Will 26 X 2.5 Tires (& 2.2 - 2.5 tubes) fit on a bike rim that currently houses 26 X 2.2 Tires?

this is for a mountain bike with specialized knobby tires switchin to maxis hookworms....

  1. No even If you could get them to stay on , You would probably have multiple flats over time


  2. Yes.  Sorry for the lack of detail, but as long as the tire is a 26, just about anything will fit width-wise that is available.  The size difference between the new tire and what you have is minimal, so don't worry about it. Oh, and the tubes are fine too.

  4. Some frames (and some forks) might have some tire size limitations.  As long as your frame and fork clear the tire, you shouldn't have problems.

    What a thinner rim will do is make the profile more round, which some riders prefer.

  5. Unless the 26 x 2.2 were already oversize -- in which case there may not be clearance with 26 x 2.5 -- there should be no problem. The usual limit is not going smaller than the rim width (not applicable) or not going larger than the fork or stays will allow.
