I sponsor a child through a charity in Honduras Right now $50.00 is probably the most I can afford give to her and her family for Christmas. I see that converts to 944.500 Lempiras.

Will that buy very much there?

  1. the united states dollar is very weak and will probably

buy more here that in other countries

  2. That is a good amount for a gift in Honduras. For the holidays in Honduras the supermarkets sell what they call a "canasta basica" (basic basket) which includes basic cooking products like beans, rice, flour, sugar, stuff like that and I saw one on the supermarket the other day that was like Lps 400.00 which should be enough to feed a family a week or so therefore I believe 944.50 is a good amount.

  3. this is more for a vacation there, but it helps. a high roller from Las Vegas would spend thousands of dollars in the U.S., but only around 50 dollars in honduras. hope it helps!!

  4. As with most things, everything is relative. If you are sponsoring this child, most likely he/she comes from a poor family and for them $50 would be a wonderful amount of money to buy food and gifts for Christmas. They will be so greatful to you for your generosity. It's amazing to me how the Honduran people can make money stretch so far. You are a blessing to this child and the whole family. Thank you!!!

  5. Yes,it will be a very nice gift. The amount of your gift is the equivalent of a months wages to many people in Central America....Thank you for your generosity and caring.
