Will 60 miles per hour winds lift my house or roof?

  1. Depends far too much on how the building is constructed to give you a meaningful answer!

    Though, it's quite possible if you have loose roofing material such as thatch or slates or the building has any substructures which could provide a large surface-area (relative to the strength of the fixings holding that piece to the main body) to the path of the winds or eddies forming underneath overhangs and round corners etc.


  2. If you live in a mobile home it is possible, but if you live in a frame house, it is highly unlikely.  It could remove a few shingles from your roof, but that's about the extent of the damage it would do.  However it could blow a big tree down on top of your roof causing extensive damage to your home.
