Question:

Will 8 ohm subs work on a 2-ohm mono amp?

okay i just two 8 ohm single coils kicker comps and i have a 350 watt kicker amplifier that is 2-ohm mono. its not none of the new c**p [it's an older..way older model kicker amp] im just wondering if it will pop the speakers if i still bring them down to 4-ohms. thanks

  1. yes but not as efficient mono is not too good either get a stereo amp.


  2. 2 ohms refers to the load you put on an amp, the amp itself is not "2 ohm" an 8 ohm load would be fine, you would just not get as much power out of it as you would with a 2 ohm load. Also if you have more than one 8 ohm sub, and it is a single voice coil, you can wire them in parallel to the mono amp to get a 4 ohm load, and increase the power output. 4 ohms is more than 2 ohms, if you went to 1 ohm, then you may have problems.
