Will A 302 Ford V8 sit in the 4.6 Ford V8 Frame motor mounts ?

I have a 1999 Ford F150 Truck with the motor Bad. I have a good 302. I want to put in place of the 4.6.I want to know if the 302 will sit in the 4.6 frame mounts ?

  1. Totally different mounts/location.  I believe you can purchase or manufacture adaptor plates.


  2. Won't swap in directly. You'll also have to deal with the OBD II electronics. The transmission and transfer case will not bolt up nor will the involved electronics work the the 302 ECU.  This a bad idea. Just rebuild the 4.6L or swap it out for a 5.4L.

  3. drop it in and see how it lines up!  a buddy of mine , his uncle had a old datsun 240  with a mopar 318 ... you can make anything fit

  4. I don't believe the mounts will line up, but getting adapters won't be a problem. If you live in a state with MV inspection, your emmissions may become an issue if your 5.0 is an older version.

  5. might have to change the mounts from one to the other but replcing the motor i dont see many problems
