Will A Car Cleaning Brush Scrape My Paint

im wanting to get a brush to wash my car with instead of a sponge but im afraid it will damage the paint is there a brush i could buy that wont scrape the paint work.

  1. Any brush will scratch the paint. Some worse than others. Stick with you sponge or wash mit and rinse often. If its really dirty or muddy go to a self service car wash and remove the grime and rinse etc ,no brush. The dirt and brush together is like sandpaper.


  2. It can, and make sure that you rinse the car thoroughly before you brush it, any dirt or sand on the surface will scratch it. Really it's usually not the brush that scratches the clear coat but dirt on the surface of the paint that is ground in by the brush or sponge or whatever is used. A pressure washer or high pressure nozzle is good for removing surface dirt.
