Will Al Gore and his alarmists take credit for having stopped g/w in a few years?

Question

Global warming/climate change warnings are out, and people in some places are making or being forced to make changes to the way they live.

Maybe...10, 15 or 'X' years down the road when it never happens, will Al and his alarmists take credit for stopping it instead of admitting they were wrong/lying in the first place?

why Al gore and the extremists? it isn;t just about him being famous because of his awards? its not just about the scientists and those who don;t believe its about every single person who believe in saving the planet hey, include me! and i would take credit for what i do now and what i belive in about this issue. but if ever we were right? so what now? will you change your mind on beleieving about it? maybe your children or your grandchildren will come up to you and say "hey daddy/grandpa they were right and i think you wer wrong not believing them?" huh.

sadly yes. al gore first off received the Nobel peace award for this theory. its true we need to stop the emissions but i just wish it was a brighter human being that came up with his theory.

Yeah, did you see how the hoax was played oh the folks in the Midwest? They thought it was a "hoax" of a flood! We are right now experiencing ABRUPT CLIMATE CHANGE!   Time argue is OVER!  If you live in the areas that have been under daily severe weather warnings,sorry to tell you my friends,but there is going to be other severe weather and it will only get worse.  This years flood was more than 20 ft over the crest of the flood in 1993,that was many feet above the last record.  What will it be next time?30ft above this record?  The ever widening parameters of severe weather records is a clear indicator of rapid climate change! Wake up America!

Nope.

Even if the planet were to magically stop warming, humans could not take credit because we haven't yet reduced our greenhouse gas emissions.

AGW "alarmists" don't ignore science.  Unlike you, with your claim that humans have not increased atmospheric CO2 levels (which is such a basic proven fact).

I could definitely imagine that- they are so reckless I wouldn't put it past them. And the sad thing is that they would probably convince many "believers" and people from Yahoo Answers that they actually did.

Your speculating about an impossibility.  The CO2 in the atmosphere won't suddenly disappear (it remains there in the order of a century).  So even if all CO2 emissions were ended tomorrow (which clearly won't happen), the current levels of CO2 would continue to raise the global average surface temperature for years to come.

However, if the CO2 emissions are significantly reduced and by 2050 the warming is clearly following the projections of best case scenarios, then historians will write about the brave actions of scientists and politicians who fought to avoid a serious environmental problem.

Climate change is happening. I just don't believe our actions are having much impact on it. The planet's climate changes throughout the centuries and will continue to do so. SUV's were not responsible for the demise of the dinosaurs or the end of the ice age. That's not to say we can't be good stewards of the planet, be responsible and look for alternative energy sources, but we also need to know when we're being duped so someone else can profit on our fear.

You can focus your energy on Al Gore or you can empower yourself by learning about sustainability at the personal level and reducing your own carbon footprint.  Then twenty years out, when it looks like we're getting a handle on this thing, you can say, 'I was part of the solution,' and we'll give you the credit you deserve.

Which is what Gore will get if his efforts to publicize the impacts of global climate change pay off by prompting the nations of the world to kick it into high gear and deal with this crisis.

actually if you read Rachel Carson's book The Silent Spring which was written many many years ago ( 1962) you will understand that we have caused these problems. By we I mean "mankind"

We have assumed and presumed that the world is ours and paid no regard to anything else on the planet - either animal or vegetable.

We ahev to be humble and admit our mistakes and try to rectify them.

And it doesn't matter who gets the credit as long as we do it and do not bury our heads in the sand as you seem to be encouraging us to do.

Its not Gore any more.  Its the Bush adminstration -- check their report out a couple weeks ago.  It's Pat Robertson on TV right now.  You need to put Al Gore away and listen to the many others of all political inclinations.  Or better yet read the science around it.  Global warming warnings were out long before Al Gore (I first read about the issue in 1979 and have seen events fit those early models since then.)

You know it. My personal theory is they are getting more and more rabid as time goes by because they are beginning to see the wheels come off the AGW bus. They realize they only have a short period of time to get their taxes and carbon credits enacted before people start to wise up. Also, they would like to get it enacted in order to claim victory when the temps start to naturally go down. Mark this answer, once the temps start to cool as they have always done in the past, the AGW loonies will "rerun" the models and claim that the changes we made took effect much quicker that originally thought. And we need to do more to ensure our safety.

The plants have taken care of the CO2 . Methane is another problem. It is a light gas and it is just not there.
