Will Al Gore be able to raise his 10 million strong green army?

Question

Here's a story that the media around the world are running (it doesn't seem to be getting much attention in the US though). Al Gore wants to force policy change by mobilising a 10 million strong green army.

Can he really do that or is he just grabbing a headline?

He could raise them, but it would turn into a yellow army at the first sight of physical opposition.

I would have to refer to P.T. Barnum's most famous statement.  "A sucker is born every minute."  So yes, he will have enough to supply his army but he will still have his $30,000 utility bill but he will also still receive money from that Zinc mine on his property, Oxy Petroleum and the money he gets from his company so people can buy their way out of feeling guilty for their carbon footprints.

Al Gore has made himself a lightning rod for the fascists.  He isn't a scientist and didn't invent anything.

If he is trying to drum up troops to try to stop AGW, that's OK, but I'm not about to stake my future on it.  Try as I may, I can't bring myself to believe the human race is responsible enough to change its ways before it has to.  If we wait that long it will be too late.  There is some evidence it may be too late already.  If we do survive AGW, it will be in a world so transformed that we would not recognize it.

If someone wants to be cynical and say old Al is just using the environmental issues as a ploy to build a constituency for the next election, I have no evidence that would dispute it.  Where was AGW during the 2000 election?  He was just out there profit-taking like the rest of them when he could have made a difference.  That makes me doubt his sincerity now.

The good thing I can say about him is

I read about Global Warming in school 40 and 50 years ago, before the school systems were trashed.  Many younger people heard about it for the first time through his movie.  He deserves a few points for that.
