Which part would you rather live in? How will things divide up and start over?

  1. No, but if it were to happen, it would be more like four countries as there are very few blue states and they are concentrated in three separate and cut-off areas (west coast, Great Lakes, New England).  While secession was legal in 1861 (was in state constitutions that were approved as being within the bounds of the US Constitution), that changed when the 14th Amendment created US citizenship and state sovereignty, for all practical purposes, ended.  It would be squelched long before it gets to the point of 1861 where the legal issues tied the hands of the federal government and current practice allows break-in raids for sneezing (you know what I mean).

  2. No, last time that happened we had a civil war.

  3. No, the country will not bust up into different countries. The reason being that we are connected through our expansive Federal systems of roads, military, energy, etc.  Taking out any one piece would cause both to the break away and the mother to limp.  I would rather live in the one I am currently in, California/West Coast region. California on it's own has the world's 5th largest economy. With the exception of water (ouch) we would be fine. California is more on the energy bandwagon than other states, and we would simply use our money to make clean energy and desalinate water.

  4. I would want to be in the rural, Conservative area, since they make and grow things, not just talk alot and move money around like the big Liberal East and West Coast cities. (Plus the crime rate is much lower in rural areas, especially for violent crime).

  5. I would support that.  The Libs could take some states and join Canada.  The rest of us can continue being proud Americans.

  6. No we won't. Most people want Obama to win but it's going to be McCain who wins because most people think he'll win anyway & vote for him instead of voting for who they want. That's what usually happens.

  7. no.  The ones that say that they would want to break away couldn't support themselves without us working people to pay for their welfare and food stamps.

  8. Not due to the election, but I predict within the next 60 years you'll see some western states pull out due to the unavoidable changes in law.

  9. Unfortunately nothing will change or improve whoever becomes President. In 2009 millions will lose their homes, job losses and business closures will escalate, we will still be mired in a winless war in the Middle East, people's financial futures will be continued to be destroyed, racism will continue to keep the masses separated and ineffective against the wealthy and on and on. If anyone seriously believes that Obama or McCain can stop this train, they need to come off the drugs. Seriously.
