While America doe seem to be falling apart, I doubt that we'll see it fall to a demise similar to the Romans.

The Romans main problem was that they were over-extended, and couldn't maintain communication/social security within their large empire. Even with their paved highways, the Empire couldn't send out its military or administration resources fast enough to deal with problems during their decay.

But with the USA, even though it's territories and influence reach far beyond what the Romans could imagine, America has the advantage of being in the modern age. It's stability is reassure by communication and transportation technologies that help it maintain its hegemony. In this day and age, it be hard press from ANY nation to just flip over and die.

No America will not fall like the Romans. As stated here by another person we are indeed far ahead militarily and technologically speaking.

We have been experimenting with very advanced weapons for a very long time. The Military while it has been reduced in size due to the cuts in the 90s has not stopped its advancements in technology.

While we Americans may squabble internally.... that is what makes America unique. We can disagree openly and not get into trouble. I think the amount of freedom we are guaranteed is a double edged sword. While it makes people want to live here (almost insuring America's survival) it does leave the US open to terrorist attacks. America and all nations today have serious flaws whether its human rights (China) aggressive imperialistic policies (Russia) or just plain to Politically Correct (the US). People every where crave freedom the Baltic states and Georgia are proof of this. I think the liberty loving allies we have would rally if absolutely necessary. Also I believe that the American people... as different as we all are would fight viciously if faces with an invasion like Rome faced. Especially Texas... we love our guns.

We may well fall unless we get some things under control.  The people who work for a living can only support so many freeloaders, and our politicians keep loading us down with more taxes.  We can't keep it up forever.

no.  History does not repeat itself.  Humans make convenient comparisons from one historical event to another without any real definitive proof.
