  1. Probably not. But Sharapova being consistent ? hehe that's a joke right? Sharapova is better player maybe but surely not consistent , if she is she would be no1 at the moment. Sharapova can and probably will win Wimbledon. And that's right there will make her no1. And Ana has to come to semis to save the points she got last year, and lot of girls that didn't do much on clay are very good on grass ( like sister Williams per ex.). So I really doubt it. But women said is soo  unpredictable that I will really have to wait and see...

  2. As much as I like Ivanovic and was happy when she won the french and got to be number 1. I honestly don't believe she'll be nummber 1 after Wimbeldon because Sharapova and Venus and Serena are all far better grass players, Venus certainly, than Ivanovic. As for who will be number 1 I'd like to go for Sharapova, but I'm not sure though because Ivanovic went to the semi's last year and Sharapova lost in the fourth round. I think we'll have to see how they play and then make a call, it's tough to call it for sure right now.

  3. I'd like to see her maintain no.1 spot for a while. She did very well to win the french open this year and i see good things for her at Wimbledon to. She's got alot of power and she plays good, consistent tennis. She needs to sort out the problem with keeping her forehand inside the baseline soon though as she gives away unnecessary points too often because of it. Also she's only twenty so i think she'll be a tough contender on the tour for many years to come.

  4. In the long run yes. I think the rankings will change places a few times over the next year, but in the end, I think Ana's more consistent performances and adaptability to all surfaces will enable her to maintain the no. 1 spot. Her game is developing very quickly and very well, her conditioning is improving significantly. Her mental strength will also improve with experience, and who's going to challenge her? Maria? She's been extremely inconsistent and seems to have lost interest because she plays very few tournaments. The Williams are also past it, always injured and only play at the slams. They're not going to rack up enough points to overtake her. JJ and Kuzzie aren't going to beat her any time soon, so I think she's pretty much in the clear for the upcoming years. The biggest challenge I think will come from Maria if she gets her act together or an upcoming star. I still think Ana has what it takes to stay on top though.

  5. Well I personally think she won't be #1 again when Wimbledon ends. She has a lot more points to defend (she was in the semifinals last year), while Kuznetsova lost in the QF, and both Maria and Jelena lost in the 4th round. It means if Ivanovic loses early, she'll lose more points than them.

Ah and Maria is stronger than Ana on grass. But we'll see what's going to happen, who knows Ana creates a surprise by winning Wimbledon.

  6. probably not cuase she isn't as consistant as Sharapova but eventaully she will be.

  7. No she wont be able to hold on to the #1 spot. Sharapova will get her act together and be the well deserved #1!

  8. As much as I would like to think that she could, she probably will not be number 1 after Wimbledon. There's a good chance that Sharapova could regain #1 or possibly the Williams sisters if they actually play well enough.

  9. Terminator,

Perhaps you miswrote. Last year, Venus won her 4th Wimbledon title; her drumming of Maria, a thing of beauty. Sadly, I don't think she will repeat--her last two wins there have been in odd years, lol.

I don't think Ana will be able to retain the #1 ranking b/c Maria will take it all. On grass, Maria is more powerful.

  10. she wont be able to

  11. Actually, the only reason that she gained #1 is because Sharapova lost too many times and she won a lot more matches...... After this, Sharapova or Jankovic may be able to gain the world #1 rank

  12. No she better enjoy it will she can. It is very temporary as Masha will be getting it back at the end of Wimbledon. Ana made it to the SF last year and Venus to the QF and Masha to the 4th round despite winning it a few years earlier. So they will be dropping more points than Masha and when she wins it this year she will be #1 with an even bigger lead.

  13. If Sharapova is over her injury, then Ivanovic will slide down in the ranks again.  Ivanovic is hardly consistent enough.  She may have been in two grand slam finals this year, but her winning percentage is 84% to Sharapova's 93% so far.  And Wimbledon is Sharapova and Williamses' grounds.  I also think if Kuznetsova can go further than the quarters this year finally, which could move her up the ranks.

  14. If she maintain her performance on wimbledon, i dont think she will fall out from the top spot.

However if she loses, i think sharapova will retain it because sharapova is good at wimbledon.

  15. i think she will be able to maintain the number one spot.....

because she's in fit right now, the only think she should do is reached semis or better final at Wimbledon.. she's really confidence after winning french open...

so far this year, she is the only player that already reached two grand slams finals... at Aussie and french... that is called consistent...

she may not doing well at warm-up tournament but probably she will do better at grand slams....

and i think the only player that have a chance is jankovic, sharapova and kuznetsova because they were closed each others....

  16. i hope so! i love ana and she did really well to get the spot. she made the finals of the australian and won the french, so she is definately the most consistent player on tour this year. maria did amazing to win the australian, but she lost in the 4th round of the french. so is is inconsistent. maria might get the spot back if she wins wimbledon

  17. Well... not to be critical but Ivanovic has no chance of staying at that ranking. She had a lucky run in the French Open. Sharapova is much better than her. I've got to give the Serb star credit for winning a slam but she will be dropping #1 ranking pretty soon.
