they are capable enough to win the 3rd world cup under Ricky's captaincy, but they have very strong opponents in the form of India bc the next world cup is in the sub-continent, but they have good players who have performed very well in the IPL, like Shaun Marsh and Shane Watson, and they also won the 2006 champions trophy held in India. Australia already won 3 consecutive ODI world cup, they are going for 4rth.  If Ricky Ponting will captain for the next world cup is still remain to be seen but I I have a feeling he would like tol hang on till the next world cup but also depending on his form too...

Even if Ricky retire by then Australia has a good chance, new kids on the block are already shining and showing their skills they've got capabilities....  take note that austrlaia have a very good fast bowlers and spin bowlers too as well as good batsmen in line..  added to that aussie team have good unity, fighting spirit, confidence and skills...  those are some qualities of a team to win world cup.

Take note also that from the last two world cup austrlaia won it without Shane Warne - he got banned, and by 2007 he retired....  also take note that Brett Lee too wasn't playing from the last world cup as he was injured but austrlaia still won the world cup without them too... so go the aussies i'd say..
