Will Austria ever become part of Germany again?

They have the same culture and after ww1 they seeked to join Germany but were not allowed. Now in the 21st century with so much competition, it would seem politicaly, economicly and culturally important to merge. What do you think?

  1. of Germany - no, there's no need to...they can go back and forth anyways...it's just like crossing a state line from New York to Connecticut..

More then that Austria is part of the European Union, which is getting more bonded together every year...what could happen, is the coud become the United States of Europe

  2. Noooo

  3. It is very unlikely that Austria and Germany will ever reunite, if not under a broader European scheme. Neither Germany nor Austria have currently a desire for reunification, and that's not likely going to change.

  4. No. They don't need to.

  5. There is much more unemployment and economic weakness in "Big Brother" Germany than it is in Austria!

Our country is nice, peaceful and beautiful - with a high living standard!!!

  6. Well, if you want to subjugate yourself to the Germans again, go for it...

  7. The annexation of Austria is a very dangerous line of thinking whose time has largely and thankfully passed in mainstream EU politics.

If people were to take the "Greater Germany" issue to its illogical conclusion (as the n***s did), than practically half of Europe is "German" - from the Anglo-Saxons to the Swedes to the Dutch to distant relations in Eastern Europe.

The nations and borders of Europe are fixed, and they're functioning well as sovereign states in the larger EU federation. They're properous, at peace, and cooperative. Lets not s***w it up by invading the neighbors again. We all know what happened last time!

Note --- An "invasion" doesn't need to involve firing a shot: It will certainly be viewed by the other major EU powers France/Britain/Italy/Spain, and especially the Czech Republic/Poland as an aggressive move (and a violation of treaties signed by Germany renouncing its claims to territories it lost in Central Europe) whether its accomplished by a referendum, by "legally" merging their Parliaments, or by force...as it will upset the balance of power in favor of the Germans, who are already the largest nation in the EU!

  8. I don`t think so

  9. Sorry, but Never ever!!! (I am from Germany)

  10. Definitely NOT.
