  1. It's Sobotka btw.

He was in the Zamboni entrance, so I don't think he'll be fined.

  2. He didn't do it on the ice so technically he shouldn't be fined.

  3. If Bettman does, I will gladly donate some money for the guy. May not be much, but I want to support this man.

  4. He's allowed to do it OFF the ice.  He just can't do it on the ice.

I think when everyone walks in the door they pay $1 so Al can fling that son of a "B" all over the ice and the fine will be paid for.

  5. The rule is that Sabotka would be fined IF he did it in the middle of the ice.

However: The ban was later loosened to allow for the octopus twirling to take place at the Zamboni entrance.

Sabotka did it at the zamboni entrance, which is what the rule states.

  6. Sobotka was told that he could swing it as long as he was in the zamboni area because the octopus "gunk" doesn't get on the ice.   Bettman decided to reverse his decision about the octipus swinging because he received over 5,000 e-mail from angry Red Wings fans about not letting Al adhere to the tradition.

    And his name is SOBOTKA

Edit:  No problem.  =)   People have been arguing about it all day so I finally decided to look it up.
