  2. No

  3. There's been a major format war going on. To answer, NO, Blu-Ray will not play on an HD-DVD player. It will only play on a PS3, Blu-Ray player, Blu-Ray/HD-DVD combo player, or BD-ROM computer drive. I prefer Blu-Ray, so I would recommend getting one of these to compliment, but with what you currently have, you can only play DVDs, CDs, and HD-DVDs.

  4. No, Blu-ray and HD-DVD are two completely different formats.  The HD-DVD still uses the DVD nine where as Blu-Ray uses a blu-ray disk.  The difference is that the blu-ray disk is read with a blue lazer.  Blue light has a shorter frequency therefore the information is allowed to be put much closer together on the disk than the hddvd which uses a red lazer.  I am a Sony supporter abd i have to say, that even from a non biased standpoint HD-DVD was the wrong move.  Warner Bros just recently went Blu-Ray exclusive which legally lets paramount, Who went hd-dvd exclusive, go against their contract which was a huge blow to hd-dvd.  Hope this was helpful.  THE FUTURE IS BLU!!!

  5. If you have a HD DVD player put in a HD DVD, if you have a Blu - Ray player put in a Blu - ray disc. Simple
