Will Brazil be able to outdo China? - FIVB World Cup: Volleyball preview
The clock is ticking down quickly and the excitement of fans is rising as the defending champion Brazil will take on China in the last match of the second round of 2011 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Cup. Brazil is scheduled to meet China on Friday, November
25 at the Osaka Municipal Gymnasium in Osaka, Japan.
Brazil already made a good start in the second round of the competition with a good win over their biggest rival Russia. The South Americans worked out an amazing game plan and sent the Russians to their first loss in the tournament. At the end of the first
round, Brazil was placed third in the team-standings, whereas Russia finished the first round without losing any match and got a firm hold of the top slot. However, Brazil broke the winning streak of Russia in the second round opener and crushed them in straight
sets. Brazil was very much in need of that victory against Russia. Thanks to Brazilian Murilo Endres and skipper Gilberto Godoy Filho (Giba) who enabled Brazil to overcome Russia.
Brazil earned three points on account of winning against Russia and moved to second position on the ranking-chart. Now that Russia has completed its five matches with 12 points, Brazil has a great chance of either tying the score or crossing Russia by winning
their next match against China. Brazil notched 10 points in the previous four matches and it would not be difficult for them to score more points. Brazil is in a must-win situation, in order to surpass Russia and snatch the top slot from thei resilient rival.
Chinese team has been tagged as the ineffective team of the tournament so far. They have not been able to perform up to the mark and are still without a single victory. In the first round of the tournament, they went against USA, Russia, and Egypt but dropped
all their matches. The start of second round of the tournament did not bring any luck for China either. They were challenged by Italians, who faced no difficulty in posting straight-set win over China. Following the loss of four matches in row, China is deep
down in the trouble.
Brazil, on the other hand, is equipped with all tools and tricks of the game to win the match. Head Coach Bernardo Rezendi’s team is enjoyoing a great rhythm and tone, especially after defeated Russia in the last match. China would be an easy take for them.
Brazilian team will also have the advantage of height and better physique against China. Besides, they have strong team-line to influence the opponent. Players like Giba, Murilo and Lucas have the ability to make it a winning game for Brazil.
If Brazil wins and finishes the game in straights, which is very much expected, it will earn three points. With a total of 13 points, Brazil will be the top team of the tournament. And if China creates trouble for Brazil and wins the match, it would be a
miracle. Nonetheless, the match is just about to start and soon the results will be out. Brazil has great many chances to win the match and to improve to the No. 1 position.
