Question:

Will Brazil nuts become extinct?

My friend told me that the Brazil nut will soon meet its demise, as there is no longer sufficient enough land left in which to grow them. Due to the deforestation of the rainforests.

What do people think? Anyone able to confirm this at all?

  1. They are dying out in the UK. We can't buy them with the shells on now and so they are dried up. Believe it or not the  EU have banned the selling of them with the shells on because if you ate 100 shells it would make you ill.

This is a true fact, the EU people are idiots.

  2. I think that at the moment they have a disease on the shell and that is why they are only available pre shelled in UK at the moment ( has been for 3 years approx)

this is to prevent the disease from passing on to UK trees.

  3. americas bananas go next!

  4. I dont know I am in Brazil at the moment and I have not seen one Brazil nut all though I am sure they just call them nuts here

  5. Everything becomes extinct sooner or later. I don't know about Brazil nuts but if there's a demand for them I expect that somebody will grow them.

  6. brazilians make their own choices i,m affraid and they are choosing to **** up the world for their own greed......dont they realise we already have ******* up the world  under control

  7. Here's what wikipedia says about Brazil nuts.

It is native to the Guianas, Venezuela, Brazil, eastern Colombia, eastern Peru and eastern Bolivia.

  8. That would be tragic.  Brazil nuts contain selennium - three a day are enough to keep you happy.
