Joey V: I really dont think you know what you are talking about. He really just got lucky? What, for 16 seasons? So what if he really he had a good defense in front of him. So did Brodeur for most of his career, does that make him less of a goalie? Also, who really cares if he had an unusual style? It doesnt matter how you stop the puck, as long as you stop it. What, you have to block shots the same way as everyone else otherwise you are not a good goalie? Almost every great player has done things different than typical players, thats why they were great instead of typical.

  1. Joey do you even know what the Vezina trophy is? Its awarded to the Best Goalie in the League. He has won it 6 times.

Think about it all of them were with buffalo.. for a while he was the best hockey goalie in the world. How could buffalo not want to retire his number... an absolute legend.

  2. They sure as h**l should, he was the ONLY reason they almost won the cup, and I'm not exaggerating at all.

  3. Yeah. By far best goalie for them and was the face of the franchise for so long

  4. We definately should.  He was THE man for a number of seasons and certainly instrumental in the Cup run (No Goal! Yes, we're still bitter about the league allowing Hull's goal).

  5. Hasek is one of the best goalies who ever played. Maybe only Roy and Cheevers were better along with some others. Many goalies numbers should be retired, but arn't. Goalies are the reason why teams win and Hasek sure helped the Sabers win with the time he spent in Buffalo. My answer is yes.

  6. No they wont, their are way better goaltenders than Hasek, the style of goalie he plays is a mock to all goalies and should never be mistaken and "good goal tending" . He really gets lucky. He has the patience of a 3 year old in the net, any goalie know you wait for the shot to come to you, not you go to the shot. And any goalie that has to flop around like a idiot is out of position. So no  he wont get in number retired in buffalo. The only reason he stops the puck in because of his defense, and you know the saying " A goalie is only as good as his defense".

    HASEK IS A FREAKING JOKE!!!!!HAHAHAHA

ADD: I know what I'm talking about. Maybe he was good back in the 1950's but welcome to 2008. If anyone is going to retire his number is going to be the wings. I believe hes won almost if not all his cups there.

  7. Ladies and Gents, I give you Joey, who has been lurking for 48 hours now...who brought the assbag?

  8. ____HASEK

    ______39

    yes

  9. no they wont because he has had much better seasons with the redwings (which is the team he retired with the first time and will again the second) he has done alot with the sabers but alot more with the redwings. and mostley they dont really retire goalies numbers which i think is a big mistake

  10. Darcy Regier mentioned today that it is something that Buffalo will be looking into.

    Matt

Hasek's best seasons were with Buffalo.  He never won a Vezina in Detroit (6 in Buffalo).  He never won a Hart in Detroit (2 in Buffalo).  He never posted a double digit shutout season in Detroit (twice in Buffalo).  he never posted a sub 2.00 GAA in Detroit (he did in Buffalo)

  11. dont think so right away but in a few year they will

  12. In my opinion they should.

He made that team good.Without him they would be down the tube for all those years.
