It was $5.6 billion when Bush took office in 2001.

It stands at $9.5 billion right now and will increase by another $482 billion by year end. That doesn't include the cost of the Iraq war, other non-appropriated govt. spending, nor the income shortfalls to the SS and Medicare programs.

  1. $9.5 trillion.  That 9.5 thousand billion.

Bush's biggest accomplishment from my point of view would be the ability to eat you know what and die.

  2. His biggest and best accomplishment will be vacating the Whitehouse.

  3. I don't know.  I'd like to think that his biggest accomplishment was killing the NeoConservative movement and alienating the moderate Republican base.

  4. Bush's accomplishment is that he ran the debt up to historic height, the dollar down to historic value, he was the president who ignored the Constitution, was asleep at the wheel on 9/11/01 and attacked the wrong country.

Bush still hasn't caught Bin Laden or the Anthrax murderer.  He has wiretapped, tortured and rendered illegally.  He made Fox News the propaganda arm of the White House.  I think those are things he is the most proud.

  5. I think that and the near destruction of the US Constitution will be the accomplishments that he is proudest of. But he will be feated and honored by the psychiatric radicals for years to come, even as our children and grandchildren labor under his odious legacy.

  6. His biggest accomplishment is his inability to actually listen to anyone or care. He certainly didn't listen to France, Germany or Colin Powell about Iraq. For a guy who hates Social Programs he sure helped his friends a lot. It also explains the huge $10 TRILLION deficit. I'm still waiting for some conservative or Republican to tell me how they honestly expected to carry out 2 wars and have the most expensive military money can buy and not expect the country to be bankrupt with no tax revenue. Think 2 crashed bombers at a cost of $1.683 BILLION. Yeah I know some body's going to say it was Congress that did it. Well Bush does have Veto power. He certainly used it liberally with the Democratic sponsored bills not so much with the Republican ones.

For a legacy think tainted food, massive beef recalls, ineffective dangerous drugs, salmonella poisoning, weak dollar, lax FDA and lax banking oversight leading to the mortgage meltdown. If he's lucky maybe when he dies no one will remember him or at the very least he can be buried in an unmarked grave.

  7. Considering it was pretty obvious that the guy was brain dead long before he ever took office you have to say that his greatest accomplishment was getting elected TWICE!. People get the government they deserve.

  8. Will your biggest accomplishment in 8 years be a complete misunderstanding of how the US government works?
