  1. I think you should see if you can get your son to give you at least temporary custody of your grandchildren if not permanent.  But they will certainly not be allowed to live with you, which, all things considered would be the best thing for your grandchildren.  Talk to CPS and a lawyer on how to take steps for this.  As to whether or not they take them, try to talk to them today and see what course of action you can take.

  2. Probably so. I think that will become an emergency situation to CPS. They were recently called against me by my husband maliciously. And my kids were given to him by the morons from cps.  He threw a little drug party with them present and now CPS has taken them from that. They told me that was an emergency situation and my kids were immediately given to another member of the family. You can probably try to get them placed with you while cps investigates your case. According to what happened to me, it will probably be up to the parents who they want them placed with as long as they pass the background check and everything.

  3. If CPS gets involved and does take them they usually go to a responsible adult in the family. Sorry for everything you are going through -- good luck -- the grandchildren will be lucky to have you

  4. I'm so sorry this is happening you should definiaetly take those kids under your custody or find someone else in the family to do so. Good Luck with your situation!

  5. I'm so sorry to hear about your family situation. It's so sad to know how heroin affects a person so badly that they're willing to risk everything, even the health and safety of their children and the trust of their parents, to get the next fix. As terrible as it is to break up a family, CPS MUST be called (and thankfully they have been already) to take the children, and since you have already been helping to raise the children you have a strong case for adopting them, if you feel you are able to do that or want to. This would be a much more ideal situation than the children being in foster homes and separated.

  6. You may be able to fight for custody. The state preferrs to place the children with family rather then keep them with the state.

They are very fortunate to have you.

I think that this website would be very helpful in where to start the process. Register and click on "new message".

You may have to relocate to a bigger apartment, but you will also be eligable for state assistance.

    Good luck!
