3 years ago, I was told that international flights would go to Cam Ranh from August 2008; but I have heard nothing since. Does anyone know if this is planned.

  1. I thought I already answered a question like this a few weeks back, so I’ll answer it again.

Last year (2007), the airport at Cam Ranh was upgraded to an International airport and it is now known as Cam Ranh International Airport (IATA CODE: CXR). Only domestic flights are scheduled through CXR at this time, because CXR doesn’t have the infrastructure to handle regularly scheduled International flights. That will change as Nha Trang becomes more popular as a holiday destination, but that could be many years away.

  2. You can check on expedia.com

  3. Cam Rang is about 45 minutes south of Nha Trang, maybe less. No international flights to my knowledge, except maybe special flights to bring in the Russian technicians that fly in to work with the VN airforce.

No doubt plans are in the works, but also no doubt "way down the road".

  4. I don't think Cam Ranh airport will ever open to international flights. You probably be better off to fly in Tan Son Nhat International Airport - HCM City - then take a 5 star train that goes only to Nha Trang - once you get to Nha Trang, you can arrange a cab or a tour  shuttle to Cam Ranh. It all costs very little. Hope this helps if you're planning to travel there.
