Will Canadian duos clinch success at NORCECA Circuit in Guatemala?
The beautiful long beaches of Campo Marte in Guatemala are set to host the wonderful action of the beach volleyball at the weekend.
The second leg of NORCECA (North and Central America and Caribbean) Beach Circuit will be kicked off on Friday, April 8 in Guatemala and it will be rounded off on April 10. The tournament would welcome beach volleyball duos from 15 countries.
Considering the fact that this tournament will feature both gender competitions, it is a real treat for beach volleyball lovers.
Teams from Costa Rica, Canada, hosts Guatemala, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Trinidad & Tobago, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico and United States will participate in the tournament. Canada will be represented by five teams in the tournament;
two women’s teams and three men’s teams.
In the previous leg of NORCECA Beach Circuit in Grand Cayman last week, the pairing of Heather Bansley and Elizabeth Maloney of Canada put up a valiant effort and clawed their way to the bronze medal victory. They are determined to exhibit even better performance
in the next tournament. The success in third position match gave them a lot of confidence and they are tipped to do well in the Guatemalan competition.
Bansley shared her thoughts about the last tournament and said, “The season is still early and we’re still in preparation mode. We’re happy where our play is at right now. At the last tournament our serving was tough, we had good rhythm and we set-up really
well.”
Besides them, another Canadian duo of Jamie Broder and Kristina Valjas will also take part in the activity. The second duo is still under the cover and they need an outstanding performance to catch the spotlight. Both these players from Toronto are working
on their skills to save honour for the country.
Likewise, three men’s duos of will represent Canada in the men’s division. The duo of Josh Binstock and Richard Van Huizen created major sensation by capturing success at the last tournament. They rocked the podium with their mesmerising skills and launched
their authority on the opponents in every single match. They paved their way to the final showdown and carved their names in the winners’ corner. Binstock and Huizen have bright prospects to do well in the upcoming tournament. They are aiming to add another
gold medal in their collection.
Another Canadian duo, which comprises of veteran Christian Redmann and Benjamin Saxton, will show up at the NORCECA Beach Circuit competition in Guatemala. Maverick Hatch and Sam Schachter form men’s third team from Canada. They held their first outdoor
session quite recently.
Hatch talked about their first session. He said, “It wasn’t as awkward as we thought it would be. The most difficult thing was to find my serve again. I felt if I hit it like I did indoors back in Toronto it would sail out the back of the court. Then there’s
this thing called the sun. Staring up at that while trying to hit the ball doesn’t make things any easier, not that I’m complaining though.”
