Will Caroline Hedwall successfully defend her title at UNIQA Ladies Golf Open?
UNIQA Ladies Golf Open presented by Raiffeisen has been announced and will take place from September 7 till 9.
The defending champion this year is the Swedish player Caroline Hedwall. She played a great game last year and won the game with a margin of four strokes. The second place went to the French golfer Caroline Afonso.
Last year, Caroline Hedwall was very happy about the win. She said, “It’s been an unbelievable year. I just try to enjoy myself and have a good time: that’s what I do. I try to have fun and it works”.
As the current edition of the tournament draws near, many fans and experts have started asking the big question. Will Caroline Hedwall successfully defend her title?
The answer to this question is not straightforward.
Caroline Hedwall played well throughout the year and was very much prepared for the UNIQA Ladies Golf Open. She had won Finnair Masters in June of 2011 after a tough fight. This boost in confidence carried her through the next three tournaments.
The next event was the well known Evian Masters, where she stood 12th. Next came the Ricoh Women's British Open, where she slid down the rankings and ended up in the 30th position.
Hedwall did not lose heart after this dismal performance and entered the next event confidently. Next on her schedule was the Ladies Irish Open.
The prestigious tournament attracts top talent from all over the world and Caroline Hedwall faced some really good opponents. She did her best and finished the event in the 16th place. This was a major improvement after the 30th place
in the Women’s British Open.
With his frame of mind, Hedwall entered the 2011 UNIQA Ladies Golf Open. She faced some of the best golfers in the world. She managed to win in the final round with a score of 204.
This year, Caroline Hedwall will face a very strong field at the UNIQA Ladies Golf Open. She has not played much golf this year, but in the two LET events she did participate in, she has posted some impressive numbers.
Her first event was the Gold Coast RACV Australian Ladies Masters. She scored a total of 276 points and finished 11th. This performance included 17 birdies, a double bogey and 5 bogeys.
The next event was the ISPS HANDA Australian Open. Caroline Hedwall stood 12th in this tournament with a score of 293. She shot 1 eagle, 10 birdies, 9 bogeys and 2 double bogeys.
These numbers are very impressive and Caroline Hedwall has every right to feel confident of her chances in the UNIQA Ladies Golf Open. She has faced the top talent of the LET circuit and has managed to secure top-20 places in both the LET tournaments.
However, this year, the field includes some big names that will give Caroline Hedwall excellent competition. Many of these players have played well in various tournaments and are also really looking forward to the UNIQA Ladies Golf Open.
Lee-Anne Pace is one name that is a guarantee of a tough competition. Although she failed to perform in the recent Ladies Irish Open, her past record for the year is very good.
Another name is the upcoming Scottish player Carly Booth. She is well known for her golf skills and many experts have tagged her for a top-three finish in the tournament.
