That's her story now and if that truly did happen that is extremely sad and there are no words to express how bad  such a situation could have been better resolved.  As for the q, if that happened then there would be virtually no way of finding the alligator.  I know this is morbid but if she did it a month ago then the Baby would have been digested and gone.  I know this is an awful comparison but it's akin to me leaving a hundred dollar bill on a bench in central park and trying to find who took it.  It's never going to happen.  They may search the keys for bones but who knows?  These things make me sad.
