Will Chamara Silva's Panadura batting performances be better on judgment day of 4th ODI 2008?

All the best to Chamara Silva, a batsman who was the captain of the Panadura domestic Cricket club that had an batting style comparison like Aravinda De Silva that caught the public eye of the SL Cricket team.

Will Chamara Silva finally get out his lion's batting den?

What are your thoughts?

  1. batting faults. This article is quite a good read. http://content-aus.cricinfo.com/slvind/c...

Before i talk about Silva i have to talk about the opening batsmen. Sangakarra must drop down to no.3 possition in the batting order. Look at his recent scores as an opener  23, 28, 1, 101, 0, 112, 121, 7, 4, 19, 2 and 9.  The three hundred he got in teh Asia Cup two of which were against Bangladesh. He needs to be back at no.3. We have two openers Malinda Warnapura, Mahela Udawatte who haven't been given a try after being chosen to be in the 15 man squad. Sri Lanka need to use them.

Chamara Silva last 11 innings he has scored 50, last 3 innings 0,0,1.

Only reason he's still in the team is because Tom Moody hand picked him, same reason Jehan Mubarak is still being chosen in the 15 man squad. How can there be some competetivness between players in the team when players get automatic places in the side for doing absolutely nothing.

Don't get me wrong Silva's an excellent batsmen. before the World Cup last year he scored 878 runs averaging 46.21. BUt he's lost some form and must be dropped to give him time to think about his performances.

Jayawardene spoke in Dambulla about how much of his team's slump since the World Cup final was because of the batting. He's absolutely right. If Sri Lanka want to win this batsmen MUST step up.

  2. He'd be dropped.

  3. I don't think i've ever seen Silva perform and make a good score. I can tell he has talent but isn't the sort of player that is suited to international cricket. Everytime out on the field, he seems uncomfortable and nervous. But good luck to him anyway.

  4. put Mahela Udawatta for him

  5. no

  6. no way

  7. he will not play today

  8. i havent seen much of silva....but in the matches i did see him he plays well.... doest get a big score but plays well...he is the type of player that stayys under the radar and plays an important part in the team...

but i do agree with nalaka that udawatte should be given a chance...
