Will Channel 7 be made aware of how bad their Olympic Coverage is?

After having swimming on all day, channel 7 (australia) have just announced something "very special on tonight" what would that be? Another sport? NO, just an interview with Stephanie Rice. Well congrats to all the swimmers but is that the only thing we are going to see???? Right now, that the swimming has finished, they are doing a ......swimming update.

I've taped the olympics to my hdd since they started and there hasn't been much on aside from swimming. The women's gymnastics coverage was appalling. Haven't watched the Men's gymnastics yet, or the diving.

Lift the game channel 7. There must be plenty of other sports on today aside from swimming - oh and long adverts. Very disappointing.

Will Channel 7 (Australia) get to see any of these comments and realise how unhappy many of their viewers are?

  1. I called them last night to complain, told it will be passed on, but it's all i can do, I also called to complain about the racism of their presenters, especially the today tonight and news presenters who are bashing china with no hesitation or research to back them up.

I was horrified at their choice of hosts, noone with any knowledge of olympics, china, or chinese history. The opening ceremony would have better with no commentary than with all the umming and arring we got, they didn't have a clue what they were seeing and insulted us all with their so called input.

I am hugely dissapointed, actually i feel sick when i hear the openly racist parts, i expect more from my countrymen and their approach flies in the face of what the olympics has meant to me in the past.

Call channel 7 and complain, write to them and write to the australian television standards board. thats all you can do

  2. They might, but a lot depends on if they are willing to really address things

  3. I love watching the swimming. It's one of my favourite sports to watch in the olympics and even I am sick of it. It's all you see and all you hear about. Yes Stephanie Rice has won gold medals but so have other people and you don't see them getting the same amount of publicity. Other Australians have won Silver and Bronze medals, which I think is great, and they hardly even mention them.

They show the swimming over and over and over. I wanted to watch Natalie Cook and Tamsin Barnett take on Brazil in beach volleyball and had been looking forward to seeing it. How foolish of me to believe they would actually show it when the precious swimming is on. I mean heaven forbid they interrupt the heats and semi-finals of the swimming.

Channel 7 need to wake up to themselves and realize that as the broadcasters of the Olympics it is their responsibility to show a range of sports and give all sports even coverage. Giving one sport more broadcast time than others is extremely unfair to viewers and also the athletes. Have you also noticed most of the commentators are retired swimmers? Lets hope channel 7 doesn't get the broadcast rights for the 2012 Olympics.

My god Joanna Griggs just said they have loads more Swimming action tonight, AAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!

  4. oh I hope they do. Their coverage has been terrible.

I worked my whole day yesterday around the softball being at 2-4 as the Offical Tv guide listed (Aust V USA the Gold and Silver Medallists from Athens)

It was not on at 2 so I waited another half hour, I waited right until 4 pm and there was no mention of the softball not even a 5 minute update. I watched the Olympics the rest of the afternoon and night just waiting for a glimpse of the softball and nothing but I did get to see the swimming and gymnastics replayed about 4 times.

I was so angry all night, not once was there an announcement of how they were going.

It is frustrating they think we are only in to one or two sports when we are all in to different types of sports that is why have involvement in most sports in the Olympics.

They advertised it would be at 2 so why wasn't it?

This is the last Olympics for the softball and this is the only time Softball is ever seen on TV.

COME ON CHANNEL 7 WE ALL LIKE OTHER SPORTS TOO
