  1. I don't believe in my lifetime.

  2. no, but I think the government will continue to embrace capitalism

so after awhile the people might have a revolution and do it themselves.

that's something educated capitalists would probably do.

  3. it's already gone a long way towards liberalisation since the days of Mao. Also, education is becoming increasingly international and exchange programs are more and more common, especially for students of journalism and other social sciences... the newideas being gradually introduced will provide a basis for change in an increasingly pragmatic society. So yes, I think the current chinese government, like the former South Korean government, will have to adapt to the new reality or it will see itself out of office before long, just like the KMT in 1949.

  4. but wait, I'm confused...aren't they the People's Republic of China?  they are a democracy.

  5. they will become a democracy when pigs fly.

  6. Actually technically they are democratic, the United States is a Constitutional Federal republic form of government.

China is starting to gradually shift to a more free market based and freedom based country.

Right now the official name of China is People's Republic of China, but it is a one party state run by the Communist Party of China.

The difference between a Constitutional Federal republic like the United States and a People's Republic is as follows: A people's republic is marxist-lenninist in government. America was founded to be a collection of independent states with a majority of the powers going to the body of government closest to the people. In the 20th Century The Progressives have saught to centralize the power in Washington D.C. and leave the rules of the land to be decided by themselves and/or unelected judges who serve life terms, irregardless of what the people want.

Examples of Progressive Policies: Prohibition on Alcohol from 1920 until 1933, when it was reversed by constitutional ammendment. Smoking Bans, Trans-fat bans, Corporate Average Fuel Economy Standards (personal opinion), INCOME TAXES, and many other personal liberty robbing policies that endanger people and eliminate personal responsibility and treat us like we are too stupid to know what is good for us, so Big Daddy Government has to protect us from ourselves.

Barack Obama calls himself a progressive not a liberal.

  7. maybe with a little compromise
