  1. I recommend to just do the job yourself. Look up the instructions on the internet and figure it out. After hearing from my friends that work at places like that I would never have anything done to my car from there.

  2. Rule of thumb there is they'll install customer's gear purchased elsewhere.

So many people are quick to judge installation shops when they should really go by the expertise and knowledge of an installer.  Fact of the matter is, if someone is going to do any work on my car whatsoever (whether it be car audio related or anything other then car audio), the person that's doing the work better have more knowledge of the subject then me.  So before discounting Circuit City or any car stereo outlet, check the credentials of the installer first and then criticize.  Don't do it before ... that's just ignorance.

  3. The answer is yes. I am the Roadshop Manager at CC in Savannah , Ga and we will install customers equipment not purchased at our store. As far as install goes, standard amp installation is $65 plus a $4.99 shop fee for standard materials such as zip ties, loom, and connectors, solder, etc. As far as wires go, Circuit City does sell a number of different amp kits to suit the power needs of the amp. If you choose to you can bring your own wires, I will say that CC warranties there installations for life, but only if new parts are used. If you bring wires that aren't new in the package, we cannot warranty them. But we would be more than happy to install equipment that you have. Hope this helps.

Just to let you know, I have personally been installing for 16 years and have built numerous show and magazine cars. I have built demo vehicles for Kenwood, Clarion, Polk Audio and others. Not all big box stores have installers that are backyard installers with little or no knowledge. Some actually have installers with extensive backgrounds in car audio. I do know that no matter where you go there will be good installers and installers that are not up to par. Just go to your locall CC and talk to the installers and see what they know. Feel them out and get an idea on the knowledge. Sometimes you just might be suprised.
