Question:

Will Collingwood go into the finals with the same line up who thrashed Geelong earlier this year?

There is a lot being said about how "they can beat Geelong" and I hope that they do. But as I understand it, there are certain key players suspended for bad behaviour and other key players who are recovering from serious injuries. So where does this leave their finals campaign?

  1. Finals campaign all but over, however expect a spirited display from the young colts for whom this will be a blast.

They can't have the same lineup - no Didak and Heath Shaw, and Presty is back. They are very dangerous with their backs to the world, but class will tell.

  2. **Anyone can win on the right day so who knows if Collingwood could beat Geelong again.

Collingwood need to concentrate on winning their next two games before they even THINK about playing Geelong.**

  3. Geelong are on a roll, have had a holiday from injuries, are a strong, fit, big, fast side - and yes, Collingwood can beat them.

When Essendon were on top a few years ago, they had a dream run for over twelve months, started believing their own publicity and crashed.

If this happens to Geelong, they are eminently beatable by the Pies.

Having said that, I don't think Collingwood will beat Geelong, because Geelong have one game against St Kilda* - who are not in the Cats' class - while Collingwood face the nasty Swans, then if they get through, not sure if it's the Saints or the Bulldogs, before they approach Geelong. If they get through that with 18 men still standing, I will be surprised.

  4. The Collingwood line up has changed dramatically since round nine, with many of our tall forwards injured, suspensions, and many new, young players getting a run. I suppose the Pies have a psychological advantage over Geelong, as they know they can win over them, but I don't know if the Pies can defeat the Cats again.

Geelong have taken their ability to an even higher standard than before, and have gained much more confidence in the later part of the season. Collingwood have a completely different side to the start of the year, and are playing inconsistently, so I think that the next game they play against each other will be a completely different style of football.

I'm not expecting much from a young side, and I am proud of the new players at the club, but, being a Pies supporter, I hope they can do well in the future, especially against the Cats :)

  5. collingwood still have a chance sure we have an unexperinced side doesnt mean we wont make it. if we need didak and shaw we still wont use em i wish we would but we might

  6. Yeah im totaly behind the pies to get over the cats - they have done it this year and they can do it again! I think they wil use every player possible that isnt out/injured that played against the cats earlier this season - that was a team that beat the cats and is capable of doing it again.

  7. They still have to beat the Crows on Saturday !!!

  8. We had one bad week!!!  All year!

Bomber changed the tactics and put more variety into it!  Since then they've won every game by more than 60 points! (Except one against North I think).  Collingwood .... well they've won about a third of their games since.

If the Pies let players back in from player-enforced suspensions because they want to win a game then they have truly lost the plot.  The thing about Steve Johnson is he copped the worst punishment of all .... the indigenous ... "turn the back".  It worked because they meant it.  Didak, Shaw and company ... don't see the same outcome.

They have to beat Adelaide, then they need to beat the Bulldogs, then they need to beat the Hawks, then they need to beat the Cats .... that's where it leaves their finals campaign!
