Question:

Will CrossFit Training significantly help my MMA performance?

I'm just starting my MMA journey. I want to actually takew a few arts one at a time, becoming very fine tuned in each, before starting 'MMA Training' at a local MMA gym.

But aside from that, I'm wondering if CrossFit is the best way to train cardio and strength. Some of my friends went for a few months and are getting into ridiculously good shape.

Anyone know much about it?

  1. This guy will , go here:http://youtube.com/profile_videos?user=r... also his site:http://rosstraining.com/  ...Oh ,and get his manuals they are top notch. Yeah and crossfit is not too bad, they emphasize variety whichis very important to continue positive improvement. That high octane cardio stiff is good and similar to Ross' method of cardio. He calls it Full Throttle Conditioning however. Like combining burpees, squats pushups and 400 meter runs or 100 meter sprints. But really talk to your friends man. They would no, crossfit has good training but it isn't necessary to be fit, it just takes knowledge and the will to do the work.

  2. Absolutely without a doubt, yes. Crossfit training is pretty much THE most MMA specific training you can get without having a personal trainer designing the routines for you. Especially stuff like "Fight gone bad" and the named workouts.

  3. Drew" The Master" Fickett

Used Crossfit training getting ready for his last bout and said his cardio went through the roof

  4. cross-fit is the "in thing" lol. it is one of the most thorough conditioning systems in use now.

  5. never heard of it!!

to get really fit why not try "high octane cardio"

take 2 20lb dumbbells to a football field or running track... do a few laps to warm up... then run at a good pace and at every corner of the field do an excersize whether it be bodyweight squat pushups, curls with the dumbbells or dumbbell swings or situps.... after 4 or 6 laps you will have a nice workout done and your lungs will be on fire and you will have saved yourself a fortune on another "fitness fad"
