  1. It depends on how they come out of today's race. It would make sense, but the trainers and owners must keep the health of these multi-million-dollar athletes in mind.

I'm going to start asking you for handicapping tips. You were all over Curlin for many weeks.

  2. Probably!! I really feel bad for Calvin Borel (I'm a Cajun and I really like Calvin Borel) and Street Sense!! I really wanted them to win!! No Triple Crown Winner! :(

  3. If Curlin comes out of the race OK he will.  I do not think Street Sense will as the distance will be an issue.

  4. Asmussen is considering the Belmont for Curlin...  they always have to see how the horse is in the week after the race before they decide on the next race.  But most likely he's going.

Carl Nafzger said that Street Sense is not going.  He said it before the race...  he said if he's not the best, we'll have to go home.  And the NTRA article said that Street Sense is not going.

Disappointing...  I'd like to see a rematch...  although I think the longer distance would help Curlin and hurt Street Sense...  especially with 3 races in 5 weeks...  Street Sense was tired at the end of that race yesterday.

  5. if they come back sound and eat up good etc. they will more than likely come back and renew their rivalry at the longer distance...there likely wont be too many challengers as the horses that ran as filler today were primarily speed or stalker types that arent bred or suited for the length of the Belmont race...It looked like Street Sense went to loaf a little bit after getting the lead, as Curlin switched leads to his right at the 3/16 pole and got another gear...Borel also took two or three looks over his shoulder instead of working the horse's head, but was still left hand whipping pretty good... both horses got a very good trip without having to steady around horses and like in the Derby Street Sense threaded his way thru inside and around traffic...a good race with a close finish...rare in the triple crown races for the finish to be that close...a good ride by Robby considering he got tossed/jumped off his horse in the grass race prior to the Preakness while he avoided a horse (the 11 horse that Castro was riding) who had broke down at the rail...we will see these two again in 3 weeks, but probably with only one or two of todays competitors in that race and possibly 3 to 5 more horses...
