He's shown he's got the arm, and the running ability, why not give him a chance?

  1. When the Lions are out of the playoff race late in the season as usual the Lions will probably look at some of the young guys.  Kitna wont be around forever and they need to find out of someone on the team can replace him when he is gone.

JMac - You don't challenge for the division title with a sub 500 record.  The Vikings and Packers are both much better teams.  They might win 2 of the 4 games if they are lucky.  They also play the AFC South.  That's probably at least 3 more losses.  Unless they win every other game they will be battling for 3rd place with Chicago.

  2. If Kitna gets hurt or plays bad. But Stanton can't take them to th playoffs Kinta can.

  3. Only if kitna goes down.

  4. I agree with you 100%. He won't get a chance in the beginning because he is injured. But late in the season I hope he gets a couple of starts.

Kitna throws for a lot of yards but makes a lot of mistakes. Why not have a younger better armed QB if you are used to mistakes anyway.

If the season gets out of hand, which it will, they should do it.

  5. Unless something goes terribly wrong, I don't see Stanton getting a chance to play this season. Especially with him  missing 4 weeks with the injured thumb. He will probably be the #3 QB behind Orlovsky, but it is a good thing that he will be on the team and have the benefit of practicing the entire season. Soon enough, he'll get his shot.

  6. Doubtful.  The Lions have him listed at third on the depth cahrt right now behind Kitna and Orlovsky.  Except for a few phenoms, it takes young QB's a couple of years to acclimate themselves to the NFL.  Stanton may have the arm and the feet but it's the brains that young QB's need to develop before they are ready.

  7. Probably not, but you never know. They'll stick with kitna this year but next year will be different i think. They still have Dan Orlovky, who has a 3rd round pick few years ago.

Drew Stanton also has a sprained thumb right now so he'll be out probably until week 3.

  8. Because the Lions will be fighting for the division title in December.  They probably won't win it, but they'll be within a game or two of MIN for the lead.

They'll stick with Kitna for this year.

Remember, Stanton was on IR last year.  So this is practically his 1st year.

  9. They've now got 4 QBs with the recent signing of Drew Henson - Stanton, Jon Kitna, Dan Orlovsky, and Henson. Kitna will be the primary starter, but Stanton will probably be the # 2 or # 3 guy. I imagine he'll start at some point, just not sure when.
