  1. What does being an American franchise in Quebec have to do with anything? There are lot's of American franchise companies already in Quebec, McDonald's, Starbucks, Subway just to name a few. If you're referring to tension between American companies and French people, that has generally only happened in France, not Quebec. Also Tim Hortons was bought out by Wendy's several years ago, that’s why a lot of Tim Hortons and Wendy’s are combined. So technically, Tim Hortons is considered an American owned company but it's still considered Canadian since most Tim Hortons stores are in Canada. Tim Hortons joined with Wendy’s to help continue their expansion into the U.S.

Dunkin Donuts has been in Quebec for many years. Alimentation Couche-Tard (known as Mac’s convince stores in Ontario) is in charge of Dunkin Donuts franchises in Quebec. Dunkin Donuts entered the Quebec market many years ago, before Tim Hortons had a strong presence there. For many years, Tim Hortons ignored the Quebec market and focused on Ontario and the west coast and this was before Starbucks had a strong presence in Canada, so it gave Dunkin Donuts a perfect opportunity to set up shop in Quebec, an area of Canada that had little competition from major coffee store franchises. Dunkin Donuts doesn’t operate in other parts of Canada because there is already enough competition there between Tim Hortons, Starbucks and other regional franchises. They have a few stores in Ontario near the Quebec border, but almost all Dunkin Donuts locations in Canada are in Quebec.

  2. No, they are going to go out of business everywhere. I have a newly built one in my area that always has one car outside & it has to belong to a worker. After they put down Muslims the way they did with the Rachael Ray scarf thing I refuse to buy anything from them. It is cheaper to buy that junk at the grocery store. People are already there so why waste gas. So they go towards a French speaking place that is the stupidest think they could of done but they are stupid.
