  1. No, and yes.

If you have a Region-locked DVD player in England, you cannot play US DVDs. England and all of Europe use Region 2 DVDs, North America is Region 1.

However, because of the common language, it's quite rare to find DVD players sold in the UK that can't somehow be unlocked. An unlocked player can play any region's DVDs. Except for the lock, most DVD players sold in the UK can play NTSC discs, though they usually output "PAL60", not NTSC.... basically just PAL video at NTSC refresh rates. If your PAL TV can't handle this, you're out of luck... or you need a DVD player that actually does on-the-fly format conversion, which would be pretty unusual.

Anyway, unlocking your DVD player is usually as simple as entering a secret unlocking code. Here are some guides:

  2. no i have tried.  sorry

  3. DVDs are encoded by Numbered Regions, 1 to 7

PAL is a TV format, thats got nothing to do with it

Since US & UK DVDs are from different regions they cant be played in each other's DVD players
