Will Ford Credit do this for a person who just has to weather one more month of unemployedness w/ A+ history?

  1. Only Ford Credit can answer that. You need to call them directly. Nobody will let you "skip" a payment. However, if you've made every payment on time during the life of your contract, they may let you defer a payment with a new due date.

    This is where it can get tricky. If they do defer your due date by 30 days, they may want you to make a double payment at that time. If it's less than a 30 day deferment, they may only charge you your current payment and a portion of the deferred payment to get you back on track.

    It can only help to call them. Explain your situation and ask if they'll extend your contract by a month so you won't have a double payment to make next month. Be honest and by all means, be pleasant! Good luck.


  2. Doubtful.

    Most lenders want to you to at your current employer for several months before approving you for a loan.

    You don't need Ford Credit to buy a $3000 beater to get you buy, though.
