  1. all you need is 7 BOG which he has already - but some of the other Cats eg Bartell have a couple each as well,Ablett will need to play well when he comes back.

  2. no i dont think so... he seems to be far in front according to game stats and guesses...

  3. No.

The umpires probably get conned by the ever constant hype of the media & Ablett. He only has to pass wind & they all grovelling about to be the first to sniff it & then be the first to report on it!

He'll continue to get votes for all the easy ball possessions he gets - in front of the hard working get in & get it players.

Mark my word - wait till the finals, he will have his work cut out once the pressure really goes on.

  4. gary ablett two game wont effect his brownlow chance but other players may take votes from him in other games .

Which means it might be closer then what you or i think .

  5. honestly doubt it, he probably has enough points before the mid season break anyway to win brownlow, my roughie brett kirk!

  6. Don't think it will harm his chances.

But when was the last time the favourite won the medal?

I think all the publicity the favourite gets in the media effects the umpires voting.

I think he'll finish third behind Brent Harvey and Brett Kirk.

  7. No - he has it in the bag already.

  8. Well, before he hurt his ankle he was in front by an absolute mile, but in this second half of the season Bartel has really stepped it up a few notches and could be in the running for his second consecutive b-low.

  9. wont be good 4 him.. seeing as the 2 games missed were against 2nd and 3rd on the ladder and these teams have potential brownlow medallists...

but agree with BADZO... give it to black...

hes awesome.. another 20 disposals 2nite helped... awesome 20 ds 2!!

  10. **I don't think two games out will affect his Brownlow dream - it didn't affect Jimmy Bartel last year (he missed the last two rounds) and I think that Gary has played better than Jimmy did last year.

I expect that when Gary comes back he'll be even hungrier for the footy.**

  11. nah i dont think so at all but he wont get it lol - go simon black

  12. Yes. He'll only win it by 10 votes now.

  13. he wont poll in those games, obviously

    which will dent his hopes

but he was fantastic before that and many predicted 20 votes (some say even more) to this point in the season

so he is still a large chance

  14. NO,  he would already have 26 odd votes up til the match he was injured, he won't score votes in that game either, he was playing a blinder too, so that's in effect 3 games so far, he might miss another couple too, the way he rolled that ankle looked like ligaments to me, bad tear or strained.

If he comes back next week, remember he missed an earlier game too, that's 4 games with no votes we know for sure.

all depends what others are doing and what he does when he comes back, he could win it with what he has now.

  15. Yep it sure will. Brent Harvey is moving up.

  16. If Ablett is dreaming of a Brownlow,  it would be extremely disappointing.  He plays as a member of a TEAM, and his TEAM are playing to win back to back PREMIERSHIPS. The Brownlow is only an "opinion" of UMPIRES, who are "abused" week by week, for knowing nothing about the game.   Don't be confused, the Cats can afford to rest him, to be right for the finals and Ablett would definetely have a priority on his dreams, and the Brownlow would "only" be a bonus to him for his seasons work, NOTHING ELSE !

  17. Yes ofcause it will.,There are quite a few points there that he is missing out on.

  18. No, I don't think so as his nearest competition for the medal, Cooney hasn't done much in the last 2 weeks, and wouldn't have polled. Boomer Harvey is another one who may poll well and had a goodl game last week, Ablett is probably a fair few ahead of him at this stage though.

  19. I think it might have a slight effect on his Brownlow dreams which is a shame because he was the favourite last year, only to be outshined by Jimmy Bartel and to have those hopes crushed again would be sad news for him. Let's hope for Ablett's sake, it doesn't make a huge impact or effect.

  20. Maybe, but I think he probably has earnt enough votes in the first half of the season to keep his chances alive. I think the fact that Geelong have so many great players taking votes off each other would dent his hopes more than missing a couple of games.

  21. i still say he has it in the bag

  22. I don't think it will have an effect on his Brownlow votes. He's racked up enough over the past month or so. Adam Cooney hasn't had too many good games while Ablett has so who knows. There are others that could win as well.
