Will Genia hoping to play in Tri Nations decider against All Blacks - Rugby News
Wallabies star, Will Genia, is motivated to play the final match of Tri Nations Cup 2011 despite receiving a huge blow to his head during a practice session with his team. Genia told the media on August 26 that he got a hit
on his head but the injury was not of a severe nature to keep him out from the Tri-Nations decider. Genia has been hit by a concussion a second time during the current yeat but he has been lucky both times.
The 23-year-old scrum half is an important part of the Wallabies Tri-Nations and Rugby World Cup’s squad and his availability will definitely matter for his team. The Wallabies side has already lost one of their key members,
James O’Connor, due to ARU suspension. James O’Connor was handed a one match suspension by Australian Rugby Union after missing the RWC squad announcing party.
Genia has been playing with the Wallabies since 2009 and represented his national side on 29 times before their up coming clash against the All Blacks. The scrum-half has earned 20 points for his side in the participated games
and asserted his position in the side as a frontline player. He made his debut with the Wallabies in the Tri-Nations Cup of 2009 while playing against the Springboks.
Genia has also been playing in Super Rugby championship since last four years for Queensland Reds and helped his side to its maiden title this year.
Genia talking about his latest injury said that, “I got a bit of a head knock on Tuesday and felt a bit foggy at training yesterday [Thursday] but just pulled out towards the end because I felt a bit off. It was more shock
because I didn't feel too well all the training session. I feel like I'm good to go [now].”
The scrum-half further said that, “The Doctor just said train today [Friday] and see how you feel but all the signs look good. I think a lot's been made of it but it's nothing too serious.”
Wallabies will take on the All Blacks on August 27 in Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane.
