Why did they use that name since Golden State was already using it? Is OKC going to call their mascot "Warrior"?

  1. Yup... Team names and mascots have two different copyrights and in many teams like the warriors or the hornets the mascot does not relate to the team name and it's often only a representation of the city or the logo. Therefore when a team's identifications become official usually the mascot is not part of it.

Warriors will likely keep their thunder mascot and the new OKC thunders will have to design some new mascot to represent them.

  2. well if the warriors have 2 change the mascot that's messed up cuz they had the name first

  3. Technically OKC can't use the mascot "Thunder" since its under copyright by Golden State (im assuming) So it will probably be lightning bolt or thunder cloud or something
