  1. This stupid law was not thought out properly in the first place.

A law that was fare to all and not a draconian law that devastates

industries and deliberately put thousand on the dole is

not far short of Margret Thatchers way of doing things.

  2. 2 pubs have closed where I live and another is right on the verge.  But when was the lawst time the government cared about the people.  The just care about tax revenue. " How much more can we bleed out of them"  Will he review it, I highly doubt it.

  3. I hope that it is reviewed. And is left as it is.

We need to weigh up jobs lost versus lives saved.

How many jobs should we allow to go to save each life? Should it be 1, 10, 100? That is the difficult part.

  4. Fat chance. We (now) social lepers that call ourselves smokers are diverting attention away from the real and serious issues that need to be addressed by this government.

  5. I cannot see it happening. it's another  case of New Labour knows best, they tell us "they are closing thousands of Post Offices", but they are keeping their own three in Westminster.

  6. How many thumbs down will i get for this one.

I hope everything stays the same. It is so nice to go out and not smell of smoke when you come home. Yes i agree that there has been a lot of pubs closing down and this has a knock on affect with jobs. What would your solution be?

  7. No. He will attempt to bring in the same rules for alcohol ... eventually pubs will only be able to sell decaffeinated coffee and tea.

It is a shame for those people old enough to have thoughts and wants of their own that they are not allowed to have any personal freedom in this respect, however I do understand why the ban was put in place, after all it is not good to put people in a position where they are doing themselves harm by others actions. So saying, I do not see why people cannot have smoking pubs, where the staff are smokers and the establishment is stated as a smoking establishment ... surely then all bases are covered ? Sadly, the government seems to think that it has the final say over anyone's life, that people have no freedom to do as they please. It is only one step away from a Police state ... the irony being they do not even want to pay the Police what they are worth.

A more amusing point ... I went into a pub only a few weeks ago (I used to go far more often) and the place stank, really reaked of stale beer etc. the barman said that they had been having this problem ever since the smoking ban came in. It seemed the smoke neutralised the stink of stale beer ...

  8. Hope not.

The smoking ban in enclosed public spaces is the best thing the Government has ever done.  Personally I would like to see the sale/purchase of tobacco products made ILLEGAL.

  9. I know what you mean about pubs closing and job losses. Our Labour club that was established in the 19th century has closed this year because people who used to meet and have a social life have stopped going because of the smoking ban.

It's so sad really because the people that used to frequent the club were mainly retired and living alone...now they stay in and don't see anyone for days. I hate this Government. Not a chance that they will review the ban though.

  10. Unfortunately no, he doesn`t give a toss about businesses closing all he`s bothered about is the none smokers they are the majority, the small business is a minority

  11. I don't think so, when you consider how many millions of people's lives are saved by not being forced to work in a smoky environment, don't get me wrong I have nothing against smokers, my hubby smokes, but they are trying to encourgae people to give up, not keep on smoking
