Will Grant Hill play for the Chicago Bulls next season? NBA Feature
When the Miami Heat routed Chicago Bulls from the Eastern Conference Finals last season, quite a few weaknesses of Tom Thibodeau’s squad were exposed.
Among these weaknesses the first thing that requires urgent attention is to find a solid shooting guard, who can play alongside Derrick Rose. Bulls need a player, who can take the scoring burden off from the young shoulders of Rose and give him freedom to make the play.
Having said that, there are not many reliable shooting guard in the free market, and the one that there is, Grant Hill, is in the twilight of his career. The 39 year old star however still has a lot of spark in his belly. Hill had spent 16 seasons in the league and last played for the Phoenix Suns, the team he has been representing for the last four straight seasons.
Although, Hill is not offensively as aggressive as he used to be with the Detroit Pistons or Orlando Magic, but in his last season with the Suns, Grant scored with an average of 13.2 points per game. Along with the points, Hill also clutched 4.3 rebounds and dished out 2.5 assists, playing in all the games.
These stats prove that Hill would be a good addition to the Bulls bench. Hill would not only bring years of experience with him, but under his guidance the young players would also learn lot. In addition to this, Hill also plays a very good defence.
The move will also be good for Hill at an individual level. The Suns are not in a position to contend for the title in the near future. Whatever chance, Suns might have had of making one final run before Steve Nash, the legendary point guard, retires from the game has hit the wall with the NBA Labour Dispute all set to engulf the whole season. Therefore it would be best for Hill that he should move to Chicago, as with this team, he can win his first championship ring before retiring.
The other important factor that could land Hill in Chicago is his wage. The Bulls already have an over stretched budget, with Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah taking the lion share. Even if the Bulls try to trade for younger shooting guards like Monta Ellis, they might not be able to afford doing so.
