Will Great Britain beat Australia in the medals table?

Great Britain are currently in 3rd but with their best events behind them. Will Australia beat them?

I rather suspect the Brits will whup our tushies these games... but who knows there are still several days to go...

hopefully, our best events arent behind us either, still alot of cycling to go... victoria pendleton, shanaze reade, not to forget phillips idowu in triple jump. theres abit more we have the potential to win aswell so dont think we are stopping completely already, either way it doesnt matter do us we will be happy in 8th place, we have done better in this olympics than ever.

just remember we arent as competitive and really we couldnt care less where we came we are just happy to have some great athletes and do well in rowing and cycling.

At the moment Britain is leading Australia by 3 gold medals eventhough they trail Australia in total medals. Looking at the present momentum, I think Britian is going to beat Australia in the medal table this time around ( total golds ). Overall Britain is a more balanced team compared to Australia who rely to much on swimming which is over now. Some of Britains best events are behind them now but they still have  chances to win medals ( not necessary gold medals ) in other events like cycling, athletics, hockey. I don't see Australia winning more golds enough to surpass Britain's gold collection from now on. Yes, just wait, i expect Britian to fight for the 4th place in the medal table with Germany. The top 3 should be China, US and Russia. Australia , i think is good enough for a 6th position with strong resistance from Korea and Japan

I don't think so Sam...The Poms are doing much better this time around, especially in cycling. Looks like we will succumb to the motherland this time.

Australia is already streets ahead on a population per capita basis. China has 1.2+ Billion population, The USA has 300+million, GB has something over 70 million and Australia has 21 million. Work it out.
