What do you think? ... so far the host country pretty much always wins the Olympics and they'll be twice as many athletes for GB then.

  1. In your dreams for the only way we will ever be able to rise to the to top of the medal table is when we get off our backsides and start becoming sports men and women.

  2. no chance

    populations

    china = 1325 million

    USA = 300 million

    russia = 140 million

    GB = only 60 million

    if anything its absolutely amazing we did as well as we have in beijing

    in terms of medals per population we wouldve finished miles above china and USA

  3. A hard one but I dont think so. How pessimistic I know lol.

  4. nope iz gonna be the us and china again

  5. no you just dreamed, CHINA is champion Beijing 2008 and going  to champion again.

  6. Australia and Greece did not so called win the Olympics, no 1 wins the Olympics

  7. Lord Coe has sent out a special invitation to all the Judges in China and we are looking at getting the Importing some new British citizens. Mike Phelps, Bolt, Clay, The Kenyan male and female long distance runners. The success of our team has really stimulated finance and all sports are going to get a boost. I think uk will finish 3rd or fourth. I think Australia will do well and i think the USA will do well. China will struggle this time. The only thing i would hope is that they don't put on a show like the pathetic and over the top politically correct show that was put on  during the eight minutes and the 2012 party. this is London, Britain made up of many cultures but the games is about like china greece its about what makes the UK its history and contribution to sport. The show should be about the various parts of the uk. and what it is to be a londoner.

  8. Hate to tell you but no one "wins" the olympics, plus the US had more medals than China so I would say that China didn't "win" the olympics. Right?

  9. Well i think we did really well with this one so if not first i think second.

    But you never no until it happens.

  10. i never realized how only a couple countries tend to dominate the olympics. i hope that Great Britain does well, an stops the heirarchy in olympics ♥

  11. China won as the host country this time, but the USA won every single time since the 1940 Olympics, they have only held it a couple of times. So most of the times the host country does not win.

    Britain will be expected to improve on their performance in Beijing, I think they will come third.

  12. CHINA already champion Beijing 2008 then will champion again olympic London 2012.

  13. in your dreams, maybe

  14. No, sorry.

    I predict a repeat of beijing. China, USA then GB.

  15. Its nothing to do with population for gods sake!

    Jamaica, with a population of only 2.8million, won 6 golds, 6 silver and 3 bronze and are in the top 11!

    Britain can easily come 2nd or 3rd provided the athletes do what they are trained to do!

  16. N-O

  17. britain will never win the olympics because they don't get enough funding for there competitors. USA, China and Russia will always be better for this reason

  18. Great britain will come 5th in the 2012 olympics....

    I have a gut instinctual feeling.

    Hope this helps...

    =]

  19. N-OOOOOOOO:

    China,  1st

    America, 2nd

    Rassia, 3rd

  20. Well, if they allow about 600 competitors, then yeah they'll have a great shot at topping the medal charts.

  21. Your premise is wrong. Greece hosted in 2004, they got 6 gold medals 16 medals in total and came 15th.This time they came 59th with  2 silver and 2 bronze.

    There is an advantage to being at home because you can send a larger team 'cos you don't have to pay for them to travel etc. and a whole host of other reasons and hopefully Britain will do better but it is unlikely they will come higher than USA and China. Those two nations have a far larger population and spend vastly more on sport.
