i know a lot of people are not greg oden fans! but to say he is not going to be a force in the leage is just criminal! are you guys telling me that, the blazers have him next year, and that they wont win 8 to 15 more games because they have him! the blazers have a young core i think that with brandon, greg, lamarcus! that there future is set! i will be honest he dose have to work on his post game, but i dont expect the guy to have a 20pts 10rb season! dont say hes overrated yet, give the man time, to see what he will be! D-howard was not the 20pts 14rb 2.5blk guy he is now, when he first got here! can anybody tell me his rookie stats? alls im saying is it overrated to think that he can get you 14pts 11rb 2blk a game being who he is?

  1. Yes I think he will help. It won't be soley because of Greg Oden, the Blazers will be a good team as a whole because they are so deep now. Greg Oden won't put up monster numbers his rookie season- and he isn't expected to, but if he can get 11 or 12 points and 8 or 9 rebounds that will help them a ton. That team is young and talented much like the Hornets, they will be contenders fairly soon.

I see them getting the 8th seed and 50+ wins next season.

  2. Hey there.  I'm a huge Blazer fan, but I think it's important to remember a few things.  One is that we got really lucky with that win streak last year and James Jones was a huge part of that.  His 3 point spot shooting was a real threat and really helped the team.  Many of those games we won during the win streak were super close games and we got lucky.  I think if the Blazers get the 8 spot next year, it will be great, but I'm not counting on it.

For next year, I don't think he'll avg 14 points a game.  I think 8-10 points a game, 10 boards, and 2 blocks are reasonable averages.  But, know he will be in foul trouble a lot more than we probably think and will have an adjustment.  He hasn't played in an NBA game yet, remember and his knee needs to be tested in a game situation where he is banging with other bigs.

  3. What up Ken Masters,

Without a doubt.  The Blazers were on the verge of being a playoff team last year- they kind of folded at the end of the year- especially when they shut Brandon Roy down for a little bit.

So adding Oden, Bayless, Fernandez, ... adding those guys along with the continued development of Roy and Aldridge- the Blazers are in great shape to be a playoff team- and i also really like Martell Webster and Travis Outlaw- they are going to be good for quite a few years.

  4. Greg Oden along with Roy, Lamarcus, and Bayless will help the Blazers to become a contender. They are all young and still rising, and it will interesting to see what they do this season. =]

  5. yup

  6. yes sneakin in an number eight but to lose to my lakers in 5.

  7. I think Portland is a borderline playoff team regardless of what Greg Oden does - they are a young team that are improving.  They had good stretches last year, and the development of Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge should progress into a good tandem.  Adding Greg Oden should put them over the edge.  Centers take time to adjust to the NBA, so I don't think the offense will be there this year (I think 10-14 PPG is about right) but he can rebound and be a defensive presence.  Look at other young centers...give him 3-4 years and we'll see how good Greg Oden can be.  I think Jerryd Bayless could give them an extra scoring presence at the point, if he develops.  Things are looking up in Portland, but the reason won't be Oden alone.
