Are regular "folks" keeping heads in the sand?

As an mature Sociologist, I believe gas prices will cause super-deep social problems. What do you think?

i'm pretty sure slavery was worse, oh and the slaughtering of the indians... hopefully no one dies because of gas prices

You are correct.  The poor will be unable to afford fuel, so they'll have to move to the cities where there is public transportation. The wealthy will be able to afford the fuel and will live in the burbs, far away from the poor...
