Will Hargreaves be forced into early retirement?

Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has been left out of Sir Alex Ferguson’s squad for the remainder of this season’s Champions League campaign.

The 29-year-old has not featured for the Red Devils since September 2008, and there’s speculation that he may never be able to return because of a chronic tendinitis problem.

There was hope that he would be back within the next two weeks, but this omission has cast serious doubt of the England international returning this season. It’s quite possible that he will follow Dean Ashton into early retirement, which would be a huge loss not only to United, but England too.
